Tutoring for Primary School Aged Children
Sharmaine-Cherie offers home tutoring for all areas of the Australian Curriculum for primary age students, in the comfort of your own home. All sessions are catered for your unique child’s needs. Sharmaine-Cherie will liaise with your child’s teacher if you require and keep you up to date with outcomes from assessments.
Sharmaine-Cherie has over 15 years’ experience and works with all learning styles. She has experience and expertise in working with Early Years to Year 6 framework and outcomes. The sessions are kept to 60 minutes and will be in your own home and will be a balance of curriculum-based learning and some interactive educational games. Sharmaine-Cherie covers a wide range of academic subjects such as English, Maths, STEAM subjects as well as Science. You will be kept up to date with the outcomes and goals. All work and items are supplied by Sharmaine and students study material matched to their ability rather than their age.
Each student is given an initial assessment and an individualised study plan is created for them. Students then are guided through demonstration, step-by -step and with the help of practice worksheets and educational games until they have demonstrated a sound understanding before progressing to a new topic or learning outcome. In doing so, students eventually reach a point where they are taught new learning material that is ahead often their school grade level, but it is only when they have repeatedly shown true understanding and confidence.

Sharmaine has been working weekly with our son since April 2019 and he was a child who did not enjoy school and learning. He would often try to not attend school, and this would lead to worry and anxiety. The confidence that the weekly tutoring has had on our son is outstanding. He has now grasp concepts especially in his Math that he simply did not understand but Sharmaine made learning fun for him and he now attempts Year 6 math questions and he is only in Year 5! Sharmaine-Cherie offers verbal and formal (on request) up-dates and areas that need support for your child to grow in confidence with their learning. This information will be made very clear so its easy to understand. Knowing too well, classroom teachers are very busy and at times seem to overlook certain area’s in your child’s learning journey that Sharmaine is able to pinpoint and support. Times for bookings can be made to suit what works best for your child and your family.
